Killjoy 02:23
Joy just one of those special feelings I could give a list to you. It can be soft; it can be loud. Unexpectedly into view Creeping unexpectedly into view Big events and tiny moments Piecemeal through the humdrum day Unplanned, unreal, uninvited Unanalysable in its way Unanalysable in its way In its way it’s free to all Free to all in its way Joy just one of those unique moments Available to killjoys too There can be joy in poetry. I find a poetry in joy. I find a poetry in joy.

On the late night bus down Scotland Road, You could hear that throaty laugh And a voice that launched a dozen hits When she turned from White to Black Grew up to be the nation’s girl next door She gave us all a lorra laughs In the endearing tone of the finest scouse When she turned from White to Black Anyone who had a heart would have loved her Anyone who had a heart In those black & white days of twist & shout Alfie, what’s it all about? The epitome of the common touch Getting on with folk - she had the knack Middle aged woman as a TV star When she turned from White to Black The suburban dream of a place in Spain But she lost her man – that knocked her back No knight in shining armour to fix the dream She turned from White to Black Anyone who had a heart would have loved her Anyone who had a heart In those black & white days of twist & shout Alfie, what’s it all about? On the late night bus down Scotland Road, You could hear that throaty laugh And a voice that launched a dozen hits When she turned from White to Black

about

I’ve been rising early to wash and fold the clothes
I need the time to hold myself together
And the hour before the sun comes up has been a constant friend
And I always must remind myself that life (is just)
The light from a star; a never-ending journey; simply passing us by

I think that I’ve been lucky to rely on such good friends
To help me out when things pile up again
And I know that times could be much worse If I was really on my own
And I always must remind myself that life (is just)
The light from a star; a never-ending journey; simply passing us by

I don’t think of the future I’ve too much on my plate
I can’t imagine any different life from this
And one day maybe when they’re grown the kids will move away
And I can find some time to lose myself and I (will be )
The light from a star; a never-ending journey; simply passing us by
